Elephant found dead

BERHAMPUR: Carcass of a female elephant was located inside jungles near Tablaguda under Padmapur police station in Rayagada district on Monday. It was suspected to be killed by poachers using high voltage naked electric wires as trap. The poachers had cut and taken away the trunk of the elephant.

A team of forest officials, led by Rayagada Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), rushed to the spot. In a similar manner a female elephant was killed by a trap of poachers near Khallikote in Ganjam district a week ago.
