CUTTACK: Paradeep Phosphates Limited (PPL), the public sector unit dealing with fertilizers, got a major relief on Monday when Orissa High Court directed the State Pollution Control Board (SPCB) to ‘unseal’ the sulphuric acid plant of the PSU with immediate effect. The PCB sealed the sulphuric acid plant of PPL on Thursday last with the help of local administration despite a ‘status quo’ order imposed on the operation of the fertilizer unit by the HC on October 10. The status quo order had come in the wake of a petition filed by the PSU challenging the ‘closure notice’ of the unit issued by the board. The bench of Justice I.M. Qudusi and Justice B.N. Mohapatra, expressed displeasure over the sealing of the unit.
