WelcomeShe was speaking at a function organised to welcome 12 members of the Nanjangud taluk panchayat, who had deserted the Congress and the Janata Dal (Secular), here on Monday. Emphasising the importance of decentralisation in administration, she said that there was a dire need to strengthen the three-tier Panchayati Raj system for strengthening and developing democracy. KeenMany panchayat members — village, taluk and zilla — across the State were keen on joining the Bharatiya Janata Party as they believed in the objectives of the party and the leadership of Chief Minister B.S. Those who joined the BJP by deserting the Congress and the Janata Dal (S) are: P. Mahesh, Tammanne Gowda, H.S. Suresh, Basavarajappa, Ravish Kumar, Prakash, Shivamurthy, Devanna, Annaiah Shetty, Rathnamma, Latha and Vijaya. Milk priceThe Minister for Cooperation Lakshman S. However, it would hold another round of talks with the former Minister and the Chairman of the Karnataka Milk Federation H.D. Revanna on the issue, he said.
