Batla House flat caretaker gets bail

NEW DELHI: A court here on Monday granted bail to an alleged caretaker of a flat in South Delhi where two suspected terrorists, allegedly responsible for the recent serial blasts in the Capital, were killed in a police encounter last month.

Abdul Rehman, the alleged caretaker of L-18 flat in Batla House colony near Jamia Nagar, was arrested on September 21 on charges of forgery and cheating.

Additional Sessions Judge Pinky allowed his bail application on Monday on furnishing a personal and surety bond of Rs.20,000 each.

Rehman, a stenographer with the Uttar Pradesh Public Works Department, was accused by the flat owner, Mohsin Nissar, who is an engineer in the same department, of forging his signature in the lease deed while giving away the flat to the two suspected terrorists on rent.

The court had on September 24 dismissed his bail plea.

According to the police, Rehman had let out the flat to the suspected terrorists who carried out synchronised serial blasts that killed 26 persons in the Capital on September 13. -- PTI
