Residents protest

Tirupur: Residents of Kallapuram village under Udumalpet Panchayat Union hoisted black flags atop their houses on Monday, to express their anger over the decision to merge Udumalpet taluk with Tirupur district.
Reconsider decision
They urged the State government to reconsider the decision immediately since the merger would cause tremendous inconvenience to them.
In the council meeting of Madathukulam panchayat union held on the same day, three All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam councilors staged a walk out after the DMK councillors came up with a resolution thanking Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi for the decision.
