N. Sridhar MACHILIPATNAM: Nadimitla Sridhar, an IAS officer of the 1997 batch, who took charge as Collector and District Magistrate of Krishna district here on Monday, vowed to put in place a transparent administrative mechanism that could ensure delivery of corruption-free citizen services. Speaking to newspersons after taking charge, Mr. Sridhar said that he would visit every mandal in the district in the next few weeks to acquaint himself with the district’s social and economic profile. Government schemes would be popularised and delivered to people effectively, he assured. Mr. Sridhar, who made a mark as Collector of Anantapur district with his clean image and whip-cracking on corrupt officials, said that it would not be enough if the Collector alone remained honest. As the head of the district administration, he would have to ensure that all other officials too remained honest and committed to the efficient delivery of services to people. A decline in some of the basic ethical values in administration had led to the demeaning of the overall image of officials, he noted, and felt the need to enhance the image of the seat or the post that an official held. The new Collector also assured all sections of the society that he would be accessible to them. Mr. Sridhar later spent a hectic day quickly reviewing with various officials the functioning of important wings of the district administration.
