Swantons enters Pooja’s main phase

KOCHI: Subramanian Siva’s attacking 88, which came off just 41 balls (9x6, 6x4), and K.R. Sreejith’s four-wicket haul helped local side Pattara Swantons CC thrash Globstar Telecom CC, Aluva, by six wickets in a first semifinal of the 58th Pooja all-India cricket tournament at the Tripunithura Palace Oval on Monday.

The victory helped Swantons clinch the second and final berth in the tournament’s main phase.

Thrissur’s Oktopals CC had bagged the other spot a few days ago.

The scores: Globstar Telecom CC, Aluva, 233 in 44.2 overs (Ramkumar 46, N.K. Arjun 43, K.R. Sreejith four for 34) lost to Pattara Swantons CC, Ernakulam, 235 for four in 28 overs (Subramanian Siva 88, Jigar D. Shah 43). — Principal Correspondent
