Notices to BPS applicants soon

Last-minute submissions made without relevant documents

Call letters to request applicants to file all necessary documents
GHMC receives 2,02,329 applications for building regularisation

HYDERABAD: The GHMC will be soon issuing notices to applicants for the Building Penalisation Scheme (BPS) wherever requisite documents like certified plan copy or others have not been given during the time of submission.

Chief City Planner B. Purushotham Reddy said that such letters are being dispatched through ‘certificate of posting’ even as processing of the more than 2.92 lakh applications for both BPS and Layout Regularisation Scheme (LRS) is underway.

He pointed out that several applications were accepted in the last days of the scheme getting closed even without all the necessary documents being submitted and the call letters were to request them to file the same.

While BPS got closed in July, LRS has been extended up to December 31. GHMC alone had received 2,02,329 applications for building regularisation and 47,663 for layouts regularisation so far earning a revenue of more than Rs. 400 crore.

Case pending

Considering that the BPS case is in the High Court, the municipal corporation is only stacking and vetting the forms based on type of construction – ground plus two, ground plus four, five floors and above like residential apartments, commercial buildings, function halls and institutions etc., clarified Mr. Reddy.

Applications filed in the circles and the head office are also being scrutinised as per the colony and house numbers so that the disposal rate would be faster once the clearances come, he said. Municipal circles of Kukatpally, Kapra and Qutbullapur are said to have been quick off their feet in this work.

If applications have been submitted in full including the complete penal fee and the likes during submission, the officials scrutinising them will also prepare the final proceedings before hand. A time-bound schedule is to be prepared for disposing applications of a particular locality and it will be put online, he said.

The CCP indicated that vetting of all LRS and BPS applications would take up to two months. GHMC has also managed to issue clearance certificates for 5,500 applications till date and City Planners concerned of respective areas have been empowered to issue them subject to certain guidelines already discussed with the Commissioner, Mr. Reddy added.
