Girl commits suicide

An Intermediate second year student committed suicide by setting herself ablaze at her house at Rajendranagar on Monday afternoon. Police said Deepika, 18, took the drastic step as her parents were reportedly performing her marriage against her wishes. The incident happened when her parents went to Tirupati for distributing wedding cards.

Murder in Raidurg

Argument over a petty matter led to the murder of a physically-challenged worker in the mess of Fire Services Academy at Raidurg allegedly by his colleague in the early hours of Monday. Satyanarayana, 40, picked up an argument with his co-worker, Ashok, 32, when the latter asked him to bring ‘sambhar’ from the kitchen around 11 p.m. on Sunday on the mess premises. Heated arguments ensued. “Satyanarayana snatched the support stick from Ashok and beat up him severely resulting in bleeding injuries to him,” Raidurg Inspector K. Ganga Reddy said. Anthony, 45, another worker, who tried to pacify Satyanarayana too sustained injury in the process. Ashok died while undergoing treatment and Anthony is recuperating.

House burgled

Thieves took away gold ornaments weighing 600 gms and Rs. 1.25 lakh after breaking into a house at Aruna Colony in Tolichowki. The house owner Siraj went to Dubai on October 23.

He returned home on Monday and found the property stolen. Leaving the keys of the almirah in the open made the job of the thieves easy.
