Assam bandh peaceful

Special Correspondent

Guwahati: Normal life in the State came to grinding halt on Monday with the All Assam Students Union (AASU) calling an 11-hour Assam Bandh from 5 a.m. to 4 p.m. to protest the serial blasts and alleged government failure to prevent it.

In the city, roads wore deserted look with public and private vehicles off the roads . Traders kept their shutters down, while all business establishments, educational institutions, financial institutions remained closed and attendances in government offices were skeletal. The bandh passed off peacefully and there was no report any major untoward incident from anywhere in the State during the bandh.

Earlier on Sunday a Citizens’ conclave held under the aegis of Asom Nagarik Samaj in the city strongly condemned the serial blasts and demanded the government to identify the terrorist outfits and culprits behind such heinous and brutal bomb attacks and give them sternest punishment.
