Rajavommangi (East Godavari): Minister for Social Welfare Pilli Subash Chandra Bose has categorically stated that Backward Classes are not eligible to get house sites in agency areas as per court directions. When he came to participate in Indiramma Sambaralu third phase in ZP High School here, a large number of B.C.s tried to gherao him on the house sites issue. He said the Government was committed to welfare of all communities, but in agency area tribals would be given top priority. He asked ITDA and revenue officials to complete distribution of pensions before December and also house sites to tribals. Yellavaram MLA Ch. Babu Ramesh asked the Minister to give housing facility to all tribals who had applied in his constituency. Sub-Collector Manik Raj said that under Indiramma housing scheme they were allotting houses and there was no delay in construction. The Minister was gheraoed again by a large number of students who sought sanction of land for junior college as the Intermediate Board had already sanctioned Rs.96 lakhs for construction. T he Minister gave assurance to the students that he will immediately take action on this. Then he went to Singampalli, where he did bhoomi pooja for Tribal Welfare Girls hostel additional rooms. Rajya Sabha member T. Ratna Bai, ZPTCs and others participated in this programme.
