VISAKHAPATNAM: Mayor P. Janardhana Rao on Tuesday directed GVMC officials to conduct a special drive to make the residents in the areas where the underground drainage system was completed, to take connections. He gave this order while inspecting the seventh Division along with Commissioner B. Sridhar. Mr. Janardhana Rao directed the officials concerned to maintain the Sulabh complex in Sector IX of MVP Colony, desilting of drains to ensure smooth flow of waste water, trimming of trees to provide bright lighting from the street lights, etc. The cremation ground near Appu Ghar would be developed by spending Rs. 7.40 lakhs by providing platforms and raising plants. Tenders would be called again to construct platforms to dry fish. He promised to dig more borewells if drinking water supply was not adequate in the Fishermen Colony. Corporator Perla Vijayachander, Chief Engineer B. Jayarami Reddy, Chief Medical Officer D. Abbulu, and other officials accompanied the Mayor and the Commissioner.
