Incentive scheme for ryots

Kakinada: An incentive of Rs 5,000 each to farmers who could not avail themselves of the loan waiver scheme, will be distributed from November 19 to 30, according to Collector Gopalakrishna Dwivedi. Farmers who took loans between March 31, 1997 and March 31, 2007 and promptly paid their dues, thus rendering themselves ineligible to claim loan waiver, have been shortlisted to receive the incentives. Only those who repaid their loans between January 1, 2007 and February 29, 2008 will be paid incentives, which will be credited to the savings accounts of farmers or their Kisan Credit Card accounts.
The District Rural Development Agency Project Director has been appointed coordinator for implementing the incentive scheme in collaboration with the Agriculture Department.
