Government blamed for power crisis

Staff Reporter

GOBICHETTIPALAYAM: Former AIADMK Minister K.A. Sengottaian has blamed the DMK Government for the current power crisis.

Addressing party men at a meeting organised here on Wednesday to protest against the State Government, he said, “The blame for pushing the State into a power crisis lies with the DMK Government.” The Government had failed to manage the power situation, he said and added that the crisis had hit the industry and agriculture.

“The unprecedented power crisis has resulted in loss of production in industries, which are not only losing business but also laying-off workers.”

He said the power cuts had led to a stagnation in growth in the State.Referring to the Sri Lankan issue, Hogenakkal drinking water scheme and Government starting cable TV, he said the present dispensation was known for its oft-changing, contradictory stands.

He dubbed as drama the collection of money for relief materials to Tamils in Sri Lanka. He then spoke about the recent attack on former Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa at Pasumpon in Ramanathapuram district. “Such attack on the leader of the Opposition can happen only during the DMK regime,.”

Hitting hard at Union Minister of State for Textiles E.V.K.S. Elangovan, who is the MP from Gobichettipalayam, Mr. Sengottaian said he did not carry out any development activity in the constituency.
