The Democrats swept into increased control of Congress and State Governerships on November 5 in a landslide election victory arributed largely to anti- Eisenhower feeling. But, in defeat, the Republicans produced a potential new Presidential star in Mr. Nelson Rockefeller, who wrestled the New York State Governership from fellow millionaire Avereil Harriman. First results from the Eastern States poured into jubilant Democratic headquarters on the night of November 4, while Western polling stations were still open for the last voters. They told a tale of growing Republican disaster.
