VISAKHAPATNAM: A meeting of the Communist Party of India (CPI) was held at the party office at Allipuram on Wednesday. CPI City Committee member G. Vamana Murthy alleged that the Rajasekhara Reddy Government had failed to keep its promises made to people four and a half years ago. Skyrocketing prices and corruption were breaking the back of the middle class. He appealed to party workers to highlight these issues and create awareness among the public. H He said it was unfortunate that the political leaders were crying hoarse on separate Telangana and separate Rayalaseema instead of solving the problems of the people. He alleged that in the name of ‘Jalayagnam’ crores of rupees of public money was being used to feed contractors and ‘unemployed’ politicians. Mr. Vamana Murthy said about 25,000 pink ration cards had to be converted to white cards in the city. Another 25,000 persons had applied for new cards but the cards were not issued even after three months. CPI leaders Kasula Reddy, J. Natraj, Appalanarasamma, Teddi Venkateswarlu, Bujji and Srinivas were among those who attended.
