CHENNAI: Officials of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption arrested a senior official in the Department of Handlooms and Textiles after he allegedly took a bribe from a yarn agent here on Wednesday.

According to DVAC sources, S. Siddheswaran (40) of Gangapuram in Erode district had approached K. Karnan (45), Additional Director (Handloom and Textiles), for procuring yarn. The latter allegedly demanded Rs.50,000 as bribe.
