Sydney: Indian women wilted under pressure to lose the third ODI against Australia by 54 runs and slump to their third successive defeat at North Sydney Oval on Wednesday. With this win, Australia has taken an unassailable 3-0 lead to pocket the five-match series. Chasing a target of 224 to win, India squandered a good start as it was reduced from 64 for one in the 21st over to 76 for four in the 27th, before finishing at 169 for seven. Australia’s Lisa Sthalekar ripped through the Indian middle order and ended with career-best figures of four for 20. Earlier electing to bat, Australia made 223 for six, with Sarah Edwards top-scoring with a career-high 96 which was studded with nine boundaries. Wicketkeeper Jodie Fields contributed 54 from 56 balls. The scores: Australia 223 for six in 50 overs (Sarah Edwards 96, Jodie Fields 54) bt India 169 for seven in 50 overs (Lisa Sthalekar four for 20). — PTI
