“Give essential items to all cardholders”

Nagercoil: The Collector, B. Jothi Nirmala, has directed the officials of fair price shops in the district to give essential commodities to all cardholders, irrespective of the rule that the family head was only entitled to purchase these items.

According to sources, an advocate, C. Sivakuumar hailing from Pambanvilai village in the district demanded some details under the Right to information Act for the benefit of family cardholders in order to facilitate them to purchase essential commodities apart from the family head.

The collector directed the employees of various fair price shops in the district to distribute essential commodities to the representatives of family cardholders or the persons deputed by him.
