KOZHIKODE: The South Zone Inter-University Youth Festival 2008 will be held on the Calicut University campus from December 10 to 14. As many as 2,000 students who are winners in youth festivals in the 75 universities in the South will participate in the contests. The contests are being organised by the Association of Indian Universities, Ministry of Youth and Sports, and the Calicut University. Contests will be held in 27 stage and off-stage items. A 40-member team will represent the Calicut University. The formal inauguration of the event will be held on December 10. The first and second prize winners will participate in the National University Festival to be held at the Vidyasagar University in West Bengal. This is the third time the South Zone Inter-University Festival is being held in Kozhikode. The last time the youth festival was held on the Calicut University campus was in 1992. The entries for the festival logo must reach the Convener/Chairman, Programme Committee, South Zone Inter-University Youth Festival 2008, University Campus, University P.O., Malappuram District by November 12. The selected entry will be given a cash prize of Rs.5,000 and trophy.
