MUDA to distribute 8,000 sites in six months

MYSORE: The Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) will distribute 8,000 sites in Ravindranath Tagore Nagar and Lalithadri Nagar extensions in the city in the next six months.

Speaking to a delegation of the Association of Concerned and Informed Citizens of Mysore (ACICM), which met him on Wednesday to discuss the delay in the distribution of sites, MUDA Commissioner P.C. Jayanna said that development work was almost complete at Ravindranath Tagore Nagar at Kergalli on the south western side of Mysore.

The sites developed at R.T. Nagar were all set for distribution, he said. Tenders had been called for providing basic amenities at Lalithadri Nagar on the south eastern side of the city.

“We expect the work to be completed here in the next five months. We will be in a position to distribute 8,000 sites in these two layouts in the next six months,” Mr. Jayanna said.

He said there were 1.48 lakh pending applications for sites.

The long list of aspirants for MUDA sites included applicants from outside Mysore also.

The applications for sites from aspirants residing outside Mysore would be sent to the respective urban development authorities for scrutiny.

He said that there was a proposal to accord priority to local site applicants.

The MUDA was considering a proposal to appoint its former employees, who were well-versed with maintenance of ledgers and files, on a temporary basis for one or two years to help supervise the maintenance of data. The ledgers of each division of the office would be scanned page-wise and information stored in computers.

With a view to streamlining the administration, a meeting of MUDA staff members would be held on the fifth of every month.

Periodic meetings would also be held at the zonal offices of MUDA, he said.

Mr. Jayanna said the MUDA was planning to acquire 3,000 acres of land on the outskirts of Mysore to create new layouts.

It would allot 10,000 sites next year.

Earlier, ACICM convenor Lakshmana sought to convey to the MUDA Commissioner the delay in allotment of sites. He urged the authorities to ensure efficiency in administration and transparency in maintenance of data. The ACICM also urged the MUDA to simplify the procedures to secure title deeds and khathas from the authority.
