Render social service, cultivate scientific outlook, says DRM

GUNTUR: Students must develop a scientific outlook on all aspects of life and try to propagate truth about blood donations as many people believe in myth that it would lead to deterioration of their health, said Divisional Railway Manager M. Akhtar here on Thursday.

Delivering his message on Voluntary Blood Donation and Need for Donors’ Information Services, a topic on which an elocution competition was organised on the Acharya Nagarjuna University by www.friends2support.org, the DRM said "money might multiply in a bank if we do not withdraw, but blood multiplies in the human body only if we donate".

Inculcate the habit of donating blood first to your relatives, friends and anyone in need by putting your contact information at places accessible by general public, he said appreciating the information services being run by the F2S through its website for the past three years.

The ANU Vice-Chancellor Y.R. Haragopala Reddy giving away certificates to the winners of elocution competition, said confidence levels would increase once they started donating blood.

"Only when you think of society your personality will develop and begin communicating with everyone in society, for which you must learn the link language," Prof. Reddy pointed out.

The DRM along with university NSS coordinator N. Vijaya Ratnam gave away cash prizes to three winners: Intermediate level first prize (Rs.1,000) to P. Vikas of P.B. Siddhartha College, Vijayawada, Degree level first prize (Rs.1,000) to A. Kanez of Markapur Degree College and second prize (Rs.500) to B.Sc. student L. Deepthi Chowdhary of JMJ College, Tenali.

Participation certificates were given away all the students.
