Law sought to stop downsizing

Thiruvananthapuram: The Trivandrum Residents’ Apex Council (TRAC) has urged the State government to frame a legislation to protect the rights of employees in the Information Technology (IT) sector. Citing incidents of downsizing by IT companies in the State in the wake of the global economic crisis, TRAC said that IT employees in the State were being dismissed without proper compensation. In a statement released here on Thursday, TRAC also pointed out that youngsters working in the IT sector were being exploited because of the lack of proper legislature to protect their jobs. —Staff Reporter
