Interactive session on service tax at melas

KOZHIKODE: The Department of Central Excise and Service Tax will be conducting an interactive session on service tax matters at registration melas this month.

M.K. Saseendran, Deputy Commissioner, Central Excise and Service Tax, Calicut, said in a release that the mela would be conducted in Calicut range on November 11, Manjeri range on November 12, Kalpetta range on November 14, Koyilandy range on November 18, Tirur range on November 20 and Ramanattukara range on November 25.

The registration melas are for those service providers who are yet to get registered themselves.

The melas will provide an opportunity for the service providers to get released from penal action.

Spot registration facility will be available at the melas. They will be issued a registration certificate on the spot, which will be followed by an interaction session with the official so as to get clarification on legal and procedural matters on the payment of service tax.
