Special camps for changes in voters’ list soon

DHARMAPURI: Special camps will be conducted on November 16 and 23 in all the assembly constituencies in the district, said District Collector P. Amutha, on Friday.

This is for any inclusions, deletions or corrections in the voters list, she added. She was speaking at an all-party meeting convened at the Dharmapuri Collectorate on Friday. Ms Amutha chaired the meeting.

She stated that the Election Commission has announced various measures regarding the inclusion of names of those who attained 18 years of age as on January 1, 2009. Those born after 31-12-1990 are eligible to include their name in the voters’ list. They can obtain the Form 6 from the revenue officials and submit it along with two colour passport-size photograph and proof of age and address. Anyone giving wrong information for including their names will be punished under the IPC. Voters who seek address change in their ID card have to submit the new address proof and retain their old card. The address will be changed in the voters’ list, she added.
