Tipsy bar attender ‘breaks’ into ATM

Staff Reporter

NARSARAOPET: A drunken bar attender, who allegedly tried in vain to loot the Indian Bank ATM in the early hours of Thursday, was arrested barely within 12 hours by the town police here on Friday.

The accused person T. Ramana Murthy, an MBA graduate, was arrested on the basis of conclusive footage on the close circuit camera on the ATM premises.

Producing the accused person before the media, Narsaraopet DSP P. Madhusudana Rao said that Murthy, who was in an inebriated condition, tried to force the ATM open by using a stone. He, however, failed in his mission and went away. The police said Murthy had been addicted to vices and ran away from home. He was working as a bar attender at Narasaraopet for the last two years.

Customers of the bank who noticed that the ATM was damaged alerted the bank manager who lodged a police complaint. The police investigating the case got the CC video footage and identified the accused person, who was working in a bar.
