Nikhil and Aksha in a still from ‘Yuvata’ Film: Yuvata Cast: Nikhil, Aksha Direction: Parasuram This is another teen centric film but is peppered with romance, comedy, friendship and revolves around the travails of a few youth who are struggling to meet their goals. The film opens with Nikhil who is a no-nonsense, fun loving guy opting to leave his home in the village due to the harassment of his uncle and aunt and banking on his best friend Ranadheer for survival in the city. Ranadheer’s ambition is to go to the US because he thinks that is the only way he can wed Monali. Nikhil bumps into a medical student Aksha and love blossoms. All is well until one of their friends, who aspires to become a film director is seriously wounded and will be out of danger only if Rs. 5 lakhs is generated for medical expenses. Nikhil and Ranadheer do accumulate the money but when it is time to return the loan, they strike upon an idea of looting a bank. They are caught and pushed behind bars, what happens from then onwards is a hilarious unravelling of the missing booty. It is not the regular college romance, but is woven around idyllic surroundings of good hearted people. Nikhil gets a good role that suits him. The director’s message of friendship is clear and bold and he managed to hold the interest of the audiences without being too trivial. There are tense moments, funny interludes, passable songs and above all satisfactory performances from the cast. - Y. Sunita Chowdhary
