‘Regularise contract doctors’ services’

Staff Reporter

Bangalore: The Karnataka State Government Medical Officers’ Association on Saturday urged the Government to regularise the services of doctors hired on contract.

Addressing presspersons here, association president T.B. Satyanarayana said that many doctors hired on contract were working in remote and rural parts of the State.

Even as these doctors are serving the rural populace under difficult conditions, the Government has announced that it will begin the process to recruit doctors through the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC). Before going in for fresh recruitment, the Government should first regularise the services of doctors hired on contract, Mr. Satyanarayana said. If any vacancies remained, then the Government could go in for fresh recruitment.
