Anupama Making one smile or laugh is an art in itself. And Telugu television industry, though flourishing with channels getting added in a big way lacks woefully in terms of good talent that can offer clean and neat humour. There are shows which proclaim loudly to be spreading fun and comedy but in terms of shaping it as a clean and neat entertainment that could be enjoyed by the entire family, it lags behind. There have been efforts, some of which did promise to raise the standards of family entertainment on the small screen but most went down without living up to the expectations. No good writersThe blame does not rest with one, but as a producer argues, with all. “There is a dearth of good script writers who can generate consistent humour, producers looking for such plots and ideas and blame also should go to channels, for they do not really scout for the best,” he points out. Such has been the state of affairs that humour has come to mean as stringing together comedy scenes from the movies and have a pretty face to anchor it. StereotypedAdd to it, the stereotyped presentation and hackneyed presentations by the anchors. There is absolute lack of freshness, initiative to be different and effort to present creatively. Talking of anchors, one is reminded of those like Anupama, who once became rage with her humorous anchoring for shows such as ‘Kotha Cinema Guru’. Setting a trendShe broke the clichéd presentation and with her whistles won admiration while spreading fun. Jhansi too was the cynosure of all eyes with some of her shows but in recent times, one feel a slight dip in her verve. Will the industry come out with some real good rib ticklers please? T.
