Distraught: Lakshmi Rajyam, wife of Moddu Seenu, in Guntur district on Sunday. –

CHALLAGUNDLA (GUNTUR DT.): Maddelacheruvu Suryanarayana alias Suri is directly responsible for the ‘murder’ of Julakanti Srinivasa Reddy in Anantapur jail, alleged Moddu Seenu’s wife Lakshmi Rajyam and mother Rama Kotamma.

An inconsolable Lakshmi Rajyam was hardly able to speak. Flanked by her children Kranti Sri and Santosh Reddy, Lakshmi Rajyam said, “My husband has been used as a tool by Suri and now killed to acquit him (Suri) from the Paritala Ravi murder case. What can we speak after everything is lost. ”

Family angry

Even as Moddu Seenu’s relatives were getting ready to leave for Anantapur to bring the body to Guntur, the news of conducting post-mortem on the body in the presence of a magistrate infuriated the family members. “The officials did not think of even informing us about the death and also did not wait till one of us reach the spot,” said Rama Kotamma. “Why is the scene of offence not being shown to anyone or to the media?” questioned Lakshmi Rajyam.

Moddu Seenu’s mother Rama Kotamma, a Hindi Pandit at Palapadu High School in Narsaraopet mandal, said Seenu was a well-behaved boy till he joined Reddy College in Narsaraopet and later went astray due to bad company.

Feared for life

Moddu Seenu, who visited his house to pay last respects to his father in April, had expressed fear that he could be killed by Suri but none of the officials or the government took note of it, alleged his mother.

Probe sought

Demanding a thorough probe into his murder, Lakshmi Rajyam said none could kill him single-handedly and it was a plot to kill him while asleep. “What were the other inmates in the cell doing at that time?” she asked. Meanwhile, Seenu’s son Santosh, a UKG student could not comprehend what had happened, but daughter Kranti Sri, a class VI student her father’s pet, was glued to the TV in a pensive mood.
