dated November 10, 1958: Closer ties with U.S.

India's new Ambassador to the United States, Mr. M. C. Chagla, said in Washington on November 8 that he hoped that during his Washington assignment, the already friendly relations between the two countries could be even further improved. Speaking to reporters he said, "India is the largest democracy in the East and the U.S. is the largest in the West. The two democracies should get on well."
