dated November 10, 1958: Election in Nepal

King Mahendra, on November 9 in Kathmandu, called upon his people to elect their first Parliament on the basis of the People's Representation Act of the current year which provides for adult franchise. The King's announcement asked voters to elect 107 members of the first Parliament. With regard to the remaining tracts of remote Jumla district, a separate announcement would shortly be made. According to the election time-table, polling will begin on February 18 next and the filing of nomination papers begins today. The entire process of polls is to take 45 days to complete from February 18.
