dated November 10, 1958: New tele typewriter

A tele-typewriter which prints 3,000 words a minute has been exhibited in New York by the United States Army. The machine consists in part of an electronic gun that shoots the letters on to a special paper. After a volley of words, each line of text passes over powdered ink and a heated roller. The words appear a split second later. In theory, the device could operate a speed of half a million words a minute.
