Marvels out of mud: A visitor taking a look at the earthenware at the Kala Ashram in Adilabad on Monday. ADILABAD: Noted Telugu film music composer M.M. Keeravani (M.M. Kreem) will inaugurate the three-day national level convention of traditional artisans and craftsmen called the Sahyadri Kala Utsav on Tuesday. The convention is being jointly organised by Rashtriya Karigar Panchayat (RKP), a national organisation working for the traditional artisans, the Maghan Sangrahalay of Wardha and Sampoorna Bamboo Kendra, both in Maharashtra and Adilabad’s Kala Ashram, which is also the venue of the event. Dr. Mahesh Sharma, a former chairman of the Khadi and Village Industries Commission and one of the founders of the RKP and Vibha Gupta, national president of RKP will participate besides a host of designers, scientists and other experts in traditional and modern arts and crafts. Artisans and craftsmen from 20 States will take part in the Kala Utsav which will showcase their products. The discussions will hinge on problems and issues faced by traditional artisans related to availability of raw material, tools and new designs. An effort will be made to bridge the gap between shastri (scientist) and mistri (artisan).
