SANGAREDDY: The stage is set for show of strength by MLA T. Jayaprakash Reddy and the entire opposition, literally, in the Sangareddy municipality. In the 31-member municipality, chairperson B. Vijaya Lakshmi is a loyalist of Jayaprakash Reddy. Though both of them were elected on TRS ticket, they distanced themselves from the party. Even though it is an open secret that they were questioning the authority of party leadership, the party can do nothing as the things are beyond its control. As the mandated three-year period was over in regard to municipal council, the TRS leadership thought that the time was ripe for aiming the target - first the municipal chairperson, thereby indirectly the MLA. When vice-chairman Jalaluddin Baba made a move to dethrone the sitting chairperson with an argument that the MLA promised the post after three years but could not keep up his promise, the party stood behind him firmly though it did not entertain him the in the past. Former MLC R. Satyanarayana has been playing his part of role with an eye on the future politics as the MLA no more belongs to party, non-technically. While TRS is leading force in the municipality with 13 members, Congress is having five, TDP - four, BJP - two, CPI(M) and MIM – one each, in addition to five Independents. Last month, seventeen councillors signed on the notice presented to the Collector. No-confidence motionHowever, 21 councillors should be present in the meeting to take up voting on the no-confidence motion which would come up on Tuesday. Already both TDP and TRS have issued whips to their members. If at all Mr. Jayaprakash Reddy is able to show his strength, probably the TRS has to face another humiliation.
