Sugarcane cooperative for Rs. 2,100 a tonne

Chittoor: The members of Chittoor Cooperative Sugar Factory in the general body meeting held here on Monday demanded payment of Rs.2, 100 per tonne of sugarcane supplied to the factory. Besides bearing transports and cutting charges during the season 2008-09.

Collector M. Ravichandra presided over the meeting. Participating in the meeting factory managing director Bhaskar Reddy placed factory Audit report of 2007-2008 before the members. He said that the factory crushed 2.58 lakh tonnes of sugarcane and produced 2.49 lakh quintals of sugar during the last season and received a loss of Rs. 13 crore due to low rates of sugar.
