SALEM: J. Chandrakumar has assumed charge as the new Salem collector here on Monday. He took charge from the outgoing Collector N. Mathivanan. He told reporters that he would ensure total transparency in the district administration. Public could reach him at any time for any important and vital issues, he added. He said that he had developed an exclusive software with which he could co-ordinate the works of various departments and also to ensure a speedy disposal mechanism of public grievances. “All the petitions received either during the weekly grievances day meetings or on special monthly meetings will be entered into the computer along with their token numbers. Then I will monitor the responses from other departments on these petitions so that aggrieved persons need not suffer unnecessary delays in getting their grievances redressed,” he pointed out. Mr. Chandrakumar, who earlier was a Sub-Collector in Pollachi , pointed out that welfare schemes such as old age pension, widow pension, land pattas, subsidies etc, would be fed into his laptop for references in future. He also said that development works undertaken by the unions and the Rural Development Agency would be monitored closely. Later, he held a detailed discussion with senior officials.
