“Over 700 given educational loans”

VILLUPURAM: Bank loans to the tune of Rs.18.45 crore have been disbursed so far to 744 students in the district for pursuing higher education, according to Collector R. Palanisamy.

In a statement here, he said that there was a feeling among parents and students that bank assistance was not being given to many of them. Bank managers had been advised to extend loans as per banking norms to deserving candidates.

Mr. Palanisamy appealed to the prospective candidates to approach the banks along with relevant documents. Cuddalore Collector Rajendra Ratnoo has appealed to the students to get the loan applications from the respective block development officers and submit the filled-in forms by Tuesday.
