‘Superfine rice price should not exceed Rs. 20 a kg’

Staff Reporter

‘VIJAYAWADA: The State government, with a view to bringing down spiralling prices of essential commodities, has directed retailers and wholesalers not to sell superfine quality rice for more than Rs. 20 a kg.

The government opened 1,774 counters across the State to sell ordinary variety at Rs. 14 a kg, fine quality at Rs. 16 a kg and superfine quality at Rs. 18 a kg, according to Minister for Food and Civil Supplies Kasu Venkata Krishna Reddy.

Addressing a press conference here on Monday, Mr. Krishna Reddy said wholesalers and retailers had been asked to display information boards in front of their shops.

The display boards should contain details such as shop registration number, name, prices of commodities, toll free number (1800 4252 977), charged number (040-23324184), names and contact details of local civil supplies officials.
