Narikuravar Welfare Board to be established
Special Correspondent
NAGAPATTINAM: A ‘Narikuravar’ Welfare Board will be established under the Minorities Welfare Department in the district, to provide the community with suitable benefits, District Collector M. Jayaraman said here on Monday.
People aged between 18 years and 60 years, and belonging to the Narikuravar community, can apply for membership with the Welfare Board and obtain identity cards.
All those with membership would be eligible to the various government schemes for the minorities including marriage grant, educational loan, maternity loan, accident insurance, old age pension, etc.
Residential school
A residential school for ‘Narikuravars’ will also be started in areas where many people from the community reside, and a scheme to provide them loans with 50 per cent subsidy to start small-scale enterprises will be implemented, he said.
‘Narikuravar’ clubs will be established all over the district under the Welfare Board, Mr. Jayaraman said.
