In focus: Chess tournament under way at Abacus International Montessori School in Tirupur.

Tournament

Students of Islamiyah Matriculation Higher Secondary School took part in the inter-zonal volley ball tournament held at the TNG Ramaswamy Memorial Higher Secondary School. The super senior team won the second place at the district level.

Champions

K. Lavanya of Class X of Century Foundation Matriculation Higher Secondary School broke the record in high jump under the senior category at the divisional level. She broke the record of 1.50 metres. S. Kuldeep of Class XI won the first place in 110 meters hurdles and won the second place in pole vault in the super-senior section. A. Khassankhan of Class VIII secured first place in high jump. All these students have been selected for the State-level sports meet.

Cultural event

A week long inter-school cultural event, ‘Week of wonders’, organised by Abacus International Montessori School commenced on the school premises in Tirupur on November 8. Children from 40 schools are taking part in sports, science and art competitions. K. Murali Mohan, secretary, Tamil Nadu State Chess Association, inaugurated the chess tournament being conducted as part of the event.
