Irregularities found in SW hostels

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: Officials of the ACB found several irregularities during surprise checks conducted at two hostels in the city since Sunday. Staffers of the Government Social Welfare Hostels for Boys in Lalapet and Malakpet were not maintaining details of students in the attendance register. Sixty students were present in the Malakpet hostel, against 125 students shown in the register. Students also complained that staffers were not giving glasses, plates and geometry boxes. Misappropriation was also found in the use of essential commodities and vegetables.

In the Lalapet hostel, stock register was not maintained since November 5. There were no entries pertaining to newly admitted boarders. Inquiries revealed that the welfare officer, T. Janaiah, and cook Kantamma were not coming to the hostel from Nov. 8.
