NEW DELHI: Central Vigilance Commissioner Pratyush Sinha has said the current global meltdown has re-established the importance of Public Sector Undertakings.

The CVC said transparency did not reduce efficiency and people were seeing greater accountability as a virtue. Citing a study, Mr. Sinha said efficiency need not be compromised with even with greater levels of accountability.

Addressing senior executives of the National Aviation Company of India Limited (NACIL), the holding company formed after the merger of Air India and Indian Airlines, the CVC said decisions must be transparent, fair and based on competitiveness.
