Moddu Seenu’s second post-mortem conducted

GUNTUR: A second post-mortem was conducted on Moddu Seenu, who was murdered in Anantapur jail on Sunday, amid high drama at the Government General Hospital on Tuesday.

At the end of the four-hour long drama, Seenu’s wife Lakshmi Rajyam gave a clean chit to the State government saying she no longer had any doubts about the post-mortem admitting that it was physically difficult for the government to protect every individual. “Seenu could have been murdered by Suri or someone linked to him,” she alleged. Doctors will submit the post-mortem report to State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) within three days.

Moddu Seenu’s body was brought from Challagundla village, 65 km from here, at around noon when relatives insisted on their presence at the post-mortem. However, the doctor in-charge G. B. Rajkumar, summarily rejected the plea as the law did not permit it. He made it clear the procedure would be recorded on video and sent to the SHRC and its contents would not be revealed even to the Investigating Officer.

After a prolonged dharna outside the mortuary, Ms. Lakshmi Rajyam relented when the hospital authorities agreed to provide her a last look at the body before the procedure was started. She pointed out that there was another injury on the head, which could have been caused by a bullet, besides some others on the left hand. Dr. Rajkumar promised to look into them.

Ms. Lakshmi Rajyam said in a rather dramatic fashion that her husband, who hailed from the (faction-ridden) Palnadu region, had the guts to publicly admit that he had killed Paritala Ravi and also named the weapon. “If Om Prakash or any other person from Rayalaseema has the guts, let him own it boldly,” she said. Later, Dr. Rajkumar replied in the negative when asked if an x-ray would be taken to ascertain if a bullet was inside and said that the head would be opened to look for any foreign body. He said laboratory tests would be conducted on samples collected in Anantapur to find out whether the victim was poisoned.

No bullet injury

Etikalapalli Circle Inspector M. John Manohar, who is the Investigating Officer, said it was certain from the injuries that there was no bullet injury as the projectile would have made a hole on the other side of the head.
