City colleges celebrate Education Day

VIJAYAWADA: Celebrating ‘Education Day’ in commemoration of former Union Education Minister Maulana Abul Kalam Azad’s birth anniversary, several colleges and educational institutions organised various seminars and meetings on their campuses on Tuesday.

The department of electronics and computer science of Nalanda Degree College conducted ‘Liaise Fest,’ which included a quiz and a paper presentation, on its premises on Mahatma Gandhi Road.

Students of electronics and computer science stream from seven different colleges in the city took part in the event, while the students of Nalanda hosted the event.

Registrar of Acharya Nagarjuna University N.V.N. Sharma inaugurated the daylong programme that began with quiz competition, in which as many as 30 students participated.

All the seven teams competed with each other to stand top in the quiz. It was followed by a paper presentation on topics including ‘embedded systems,’ ‘mobile technology,’ and ‘networking and cryptography.’

Principal of the Nova College of Engineering and Technology for Women T.V. Ramakrishna Rao delivered a lecture on ‘satellite technologies,’ marking the valedictory of the event. Principal of the college M. Anuradha, head of the computer science department V. Ramesh and electronics department S. Hemanth Kumar were present.

At K.B.N. College, Bar Association leader V. Hazarathariah Gupta participated as chief guest and underlined the importance of education in personality development.
