Workers seek wages on par with government staff
HUBLI: The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation Employees’ United Struggle Committee has said that it will be forced to launch an agitation across the State if its demands are not fulfilled by December 15.
In a press release issued here on Tuesday, convenor of the committee K.S. Sharma said that the committee had given a notice in this regard to Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa along with a memorandum.
He said that the management of the four State road transport corporations in the State had ignored the demands of the employees’ unions and unilaterally declared wage revision of six per cent.
Dr. Sharma aid that the employees had been seeking wages on par with government employees. The staff of road transport corporations, who used to get higher wages than the government employees, were now getting 21 per cent less than what government employees were getting now.

The committee had sought a ban on private buses plying on nationalised routes, he said.
