Haul: The leopard skins that were seized by the police in Mysore on Tuesday.
MYSORE: In a joint operation, sleuths of the City Crime Branch (CCB) and the City Crime Investigation Bureau on Tuesday arrested four persons on the charges of killing two leopards and trying to sell their skins on Manandawadi Link Road in Vidyaranyapuram Police Station limits.
The police gave the names of the arrested as Sanna Nayak (32) of H.D. Kote taluk, Arif (24) of Nanjangud, Ubed (25) of Nanjangud and Immad (54) of Hullalli village in Nanjangud taluk.
The police have seized the leopard skins.
Acting on tip-off that some people were trying to sell leopard skins, a police team was formed to arrest the accused. Preliminary investigations revealed that the accused had allegedly cut trees and killed wild animals in the forests around Sargur and in other places in H.D. Kote taluk in the past, according to a press release from the CCB.
They have also been accused of selling meat of poached animals at various places.
