MLA alleges rejection of projects
Staff Reporter
Chennai: Triplicane constituency MLA Bader Sayeed has said that funds allocated to her under the MLA Constituency Development Scheme remained underutilised because the State government rejected most of the project proposals.
In a statement here, Ms. Sayeed said she had identified more than 40 projects in the last two years in her constituency but the government had rejected 75 per cent of them. “If the funds have remained underutilised, it is because of the antagonism of the government towards the AIADMK and its MLAs,” she said.
She stated that even the small number of projects that had been carried out with the MLA funds did not find her name mentioned till she brought it to the notice of the authorities concerned.
“Despite repeated reminders to the authorities and raising the subject in the Assembly, I still do not have an office to function in my constituency,” she said.
