BJP MLA to join Congress

HYDERABAD: In a blow to the Bharatiya Janata Party in the State, P. Dora Babu, the party MLA from Pithapuram constituency in East Godavari district will join the Congress party on November. 14.

Mr. Dora Babu, one of the two BJP MLAs in the State Assembly has been keeping away from the party activities for the last few months.

The party has slapped a show cause notice to him for defying the party whip in the elections to the Legislative Council. He was charged with backing the candidature of an independent.

The BJP legislator met Congress leaders on the Assembly premises here on Wednesday. Congress sources said that Mr. Dora Babu had expressed his desire to join the party.

“He will formally join the Congress in the presence of the Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy and the APCC president D. Srinivas,” sources added.
