This Day That Age
Commander Allan Noble, the British Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, announced at the Colombo Plan conference in Seattle that the British Government would make an additional two million pounds sterling available to Colombo Plan technical assistance during the next four years. This would be over and above the technical assistance of seven million pounds in seven years promised in 1955, he said. Commander Noble told the conference: “Within the limits permitted by our own stability, which matters to so many countries besides our own, and subject to our heavy commitments to others, we shall continue to contribute our utmost to bringing greater prosperity to the countries of South and South-East Asia.”
